Just One Person Can Make So Much Difference

In Bagheria, there is a growing population of cats in need of food and homes.

Together, we can spay, neuter, and vaccinate 150 cats within one year, if not more. We can care for these cats and find them good homes.

These little souls are lost and right now, there is nobody that wants to help. This situation needs to be corrected. LET'S HELP!

How spaying or neutering just 1 cat can make a big difference

  • Cats can have a litter as young as 6 months of age

  • 1 female cat can have three litters a year, up to 5 kittens a litter

  • The breeding span of a female cat is about 10 years

  • That means 1 female cat can have up to 150 kittens in its lifetime

  • About half of these feral kittens will die within their first year of life

There are benefits to spaying and neutering in addition to managing the feral cat population:

  • Increased life expectancy with males living up to twice as long

  • Decreased risk of mammary cancer

  • Prevention of testicular cancer in males

  • Prevention of  uterine, cervical, and ovarian cancer in females

  • Less aggressive behavior results in lower risk of feline leukemia and feline immunodeficiency virus in males

  • Decreased hormone levels result in less urine spraying by males

  • Prevention of pyometra, a uterine infection in females
